1. Who We Are

This website is operated by Kurt Camilleri, a Senior Full-Stack Engineer and Technical Consultant trading as KC-Codeworks, based in Malta (EU). References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to Kurt Camilleri / KC-Codeworks.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What Data We Collect

This is a portfolio website. We do not run advertising campaigns, sell products, or process financial transactions. The only non-essential data we collect is anonymous usage analytics.

Analytics data (Google Analytics 4)

When you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-KZGF7PZBEQ) to collect aggregated, anonymised information about how visitors use the site. This may include:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search engine
  • General geographic location (country / region — never precise GPS)
  • Browser type and device category
  • Interactions such as clicks and scroll depth

Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish returning visitors. No personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, email addresses, or IP addresses is stored by us. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before any data is recorded.

If you decline cookies, Google Analytics operates in cookieless mode (Google Consent Mode V2). In this mode, aggregated and modelled data may still reach Google, but no client identifier is stored on your device.

Necessary data

We store one functional cookie, cookie-consent, to remember your cookie preference. This cookie is strictly necessary and does not require your consent.

3. Cookies We Use

Google Analytics cookies are only set after you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Decline, no analytics cookies are stored.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under GDPR Article 6(1), we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — Analytics cookies are only placed after you give explicit consent via the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 6).
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — The cookie-consent cookie is strictly necessary to remember your preference and does not require separate consent.

5. Third-Party Services

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC (or Google Ireland Limited for EU residents). Data collected through Google Analytics is transferred to and processed by Google on servers in the United States or other countries. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which provides a legal mechanism for these transfers.

For details on how Google handles data, see the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

No other third-party tracking or advertising services are active on this site.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject under GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to any personal data we hold:

  • Right of access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure — Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to withdraw consent — You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time by clearing your cookies and declining when the banner reappears, or by deleting the cookie-consent cookie from your browser.
  • Right to object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to lodge a complaint — You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) of Malta, or with the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Because this is an analytics-only site with anonymised data, we hold no PII that can be linked back to you individually. However, if you have a question or concern, please contact us using the details below.

7. Data Retention

Analytics data retained in Google Analytics is set to a 14-month retention period, after which it is automatically deleted by Google. The cookie-consent cookie expires after 6 months; your preference will be requested again on your next visit after it expires.
